Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it. The man who regards his own life and that of his fellow creatures as meaningless is not merely unfortunate but almost disqualified for life. Faced with what is right, to leave it undone shows a lack of courage. Charms strike the sight, but merit wins the soul. Wrong must not win by technicalities. To err is human; to forgive, divine. True holiness consists in doing God's will with a smile. Fame is something which must be won; honor, only something which must not be lost. Do what is right, not what is easy nor what is popular.
