As government expands liberty contracts. Without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. Why is it inflationary if the people keep their own money, and spend it the way they want to, [but] not inflationary if the government takes it and spends it the way it wants to?. We must not look to government to solve our problems. Government is the problem. Today, if you invent a better mousetrap, the government comes along with a better mouse. Government is the people's business and every man, woman and child becomes a shareholder with the first penny of tax paid. History teaches that war begins when governments believe the price of aggression is cheap. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidise it. The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly. Good government is no substitute for self-government.
