Science gives us knowledge, but only philosophy can give us wisdom. People wonder why the novel is the most popular form of literature; people wonder why it is read more than books of science or books of metaphysics. The reason is very simple; it is merely that the novel is more true than they are. When you sit with a nice girl for two hours, you think it's only a minute. It is absurd for the Evolutionist to complain that it is unthinkable for an admittedly unthinkable God to make everything out of nothing, and then pretend that it is more thinkable that nothing should turn itself into everything. All you have to do is contemplate a simple grain of sand, and you will see in it all the marvels of creation. Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men. Men became scientific because they expected Law in Nature, and they expected Law in Nature because they believed in a Legislator. The statement that only science can lead to truth is not itself deduced from science. It is not a scientific statement but rather a statement about science, that is, it is a metascientific statement. Therefore, if scientism's basic principle is true, the statement expressing scientism must be false. Scientism refutes itself hence it is incoherent. Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love.
