Life does not control you. What you believe about it, does. Your thoughts do not create reality, but they do create your experience. A philosopher will not believe what he sees because he is too busy speculating about what he does not see. Sometimes when I consider what tremendous consequences come from little things, I am tempted to think there are no little things. All that happens means something; nothing you do is ever insignificant. The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness. Thinking is more interesting than knowing, but less interesting than looking Man can do what he wills, but he cannot will what he wills. Every man is pent up within the limits of his own consciousness, and cannot directly get beyond those limits any more than he can get beyond his own skin; so external aid is not of much use to him. For the highest, most varied and lasting pleasures are those of the mind, however much our youth may deceive us on this point; and the pleasures of the mind turn chiefly on the powers of the mind.
