God has blessed me so much in my life. A testament to one of his blessings is that he gave me the courage to live my dreams, to step outside the box and be brave, bold, and often irreverent, but most of all he made me resilient.

When Miss Williams was crowned Miss America in 1983, she opened the door for Black women around the world to achieve immeasurable dreams the same way Hattie McDaniel did as the first Black woman to ever win an Academy Award.

I've made it no secret that one of my idols is Vanessa L. Williams, the first Black woman to be crowned Miss America. She is a friend, mentor, and inspiration not only for me, but for millions of women around the world.

I don't want to fight at home. I want to be able to talk; I want to be able to rationally discuss things.

There's no other city like New York in the world; I loved our life there.

A friend is someone you can trust who isn't just your friend when the cameras are rolling or when you're successful.

There are children suffering, even dying from being bullied.

Thank God for my real friends. I don't know what I would do without them.

I acknowledge I have a pattern of falling for men who are emotionally unavailable, physically unavailable in terms of distance, or categorically unavailable with respect to time or where they are in life.

I can fall on my face at times, but I get right back up, dust myself off, laugh, and keep it moving. I never take things or myself too seriously in my personal life.

L.A. has great business opportunities for my film and TV production company and acting career, but it can be a very lonely place.

I thank those activists such as Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, and others. They risked - and sometimes lost - their lives in the name of freedom and equality.

I'm a consummate professional and was always taught being on time is being early.

Actual queens are dignified, beloved, regal, and gracious, and don't walk into a room with their noses in the air.

I have never had any issues with falling in love, dating, sustaining long-term relationships, or attracting great men in my life, who have loved me unconditionally.

Since birth, my mother made the decision at age 16 to pretend she never had me. She has never spoken to me. Even if present in the same room with other people and family, she pretends that I simply don't exist. She pretends I'm invisible.

My Aunt Lori is my mother's sister and has always been a mother figure to me. She is smart, driven, successful, and kind.
